FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I get my student in the same class as their friend?

Please bring students who would like to be in the same class together to their appropriate class sign in the Multi-week meeting area on the first day of class. No prior arrangements are needed. However, please understand, for the benefit of your student and the rest of the class, only students in the same age group and at the same ability will be placed together.

Does my student need a lift ticket?

All students are required to have either a Multi-week Go Card (purchased online when registering for Multi-week classes), a daily lift ticket, or a season pass to participate in Multi-week lessons. Lift tickets are not included in the price of the lesson but can be added to your child’s registration. A photo will need to be uploaded only if you are purchasing a season pass.

Where do we go on the first day?

Please meet in our Multi-week meeting area; look uphill of the Kids Club/Chapel building to the left of the main plaza. We have a “Multi-week Office” for questions, though there is no need to visit the office prior to lessons unless you have a question or discrepancy. Students and parents may proceed directly to their designated class sign, ready to go. Please arrive ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the lesson start time. Late arrivals will miss the lesson.

How do I change or cancel a program once I have registered?

Changes can only be made up until the registration deadline date which is December 10th, 2011. Please keep and print your Sale Complete e-mail that you will receive after registering online for any future questions or changes. There is a $25.00 fee for any changes made to the program (such as changing days Saturday to Sunday or AM to PM) or to cancel your order. To make a change to your program, you will need your Sale confirmation e-mails.

What if my child cannot participate in all six classes?

There is no make-up class available for students who miss 1 or 2 classes. Refunds will be provided if you child is unable to attend 3 or more classes due to illness or injury. Refund requests must be accompanied with a doctor’s note. To request a refund please call 360-663-3036 or send us an email to multiweek@skicrystal.com. All refunds are subject to a $25 processing fee. Refunds take 3-6 weeks to process.

What about lunch break for Full Day lessons?

All Full Day classes break for lunch from 11:30am-12:30pm.

If you purchased a Kid’s Full Day (ages 7-10) a healthy, hearty lunch is included and is supervised by our instructors and Kids Club staff. Kid’s lunches will be held on the C 1/2 level of the main lodge at the base area. Due to the limited amount of room, parents are not allowed to eat with students. We encourage parents to allow students to stay with their class for lunch, so when the class is ready to hit the slopes after lunch all students will be present.

How are classes assigned?

Students are assigned to classes according to their ability level and age. Please bring students who would like to be in the same class to the registered ski or snowboard level sign at the Multi-week meeting area together on the first day. No prior arrangements are needed. However, please understand, for the benefit of your student and the rest of the class, only students in the same age group and ability will be placed together.

Will my student change classes?

Students may change classes during the program. All students progress at different rates. It may be necessary to change classes during the program as a student’s ski or snowboard performance level changes. We will try to minimize transfers. You can help us by trying not to miss any classes during the program duration and by choosing the best ability level when registering online. If your student needs to be moved to another class, we will make every effort to do so smoothly.

What if I chose to rent my equipment through Crystal Mountain?

After one size fitting, Multi-week equipment rentals will be pre-adjusted to your child’s size specifications and reserved for pickup each lesson day. Daily setup equipment is to be used each lesson day and must be returned at the end of each day. See your confirmation e-mail for dates to pre-fit equipment before the start of Multi-week lessons. Please wait until the prescribed time to get fitted so that we may best serve you. Equipment fitting may also take place on the first lesson day and the rental shop will be open at 8am for fittings and pickup. Starting day is extremely busy and wait times are long, so please arrive early to allow enough time to get fitted and make it to the Multi-week lesson area on time.

What if my child has special needs?

Unfortunately we do not have specially trained instructors to accommodate children with learning disabilities or special medical needs. Please contact Outdoors For All for more information about their Adaptive Programs.

How are the different ability levels broken down?

LEVEL 1 – are 1st Timers. They can not come to a stop on their own. They learn in the Adult Beginner area and/or on the Magic Carpet, while learning the basics of balancing and gliding on snow.

LEVEL 2 – are learning to balance, slow and stop. They take their first rides on the beginner chair lift after mastering the Adult Beginner area and/or the Magic Carpet area.

LEVEL 3 – can turn left, right and make a complete stop. For boarders they can turn both toe and heel edge. They can ride the beginner chairlift with confidence and are getting ready to take their first rides on the Chinook Chair lift with the run Tinkerbell in mind.

LEVELS 4 & 5 – are starting to explore harder green and easier blue runs. They learn to make advanced turns and explore more diverse terrain. These riders are introduced to a few variations that dramatically improve their ability to negotiate more difficult terrain.

LEVELS 6 & 7 – can make advanced turns, tackle all blue runs and are beginning to explore more adventurous terrain like skiing and riding off the groomed trails and in the bumps. This rider’s focus can also be to master the art of carving turns on the groomed runs.

LEVELS 8 & 9 – are exploring the whole mountain including black diamond runs and working on advanced techniques and tactical approaches to riding bigger terrain and creating a variety of turn shapes for specific conditions like powder, crud, steep terrain and high speed arcing on the groomed runs. This skier/rider is comfortable with all types of snow conditions and off-piste terrain (off the groomed runs).
