SheJumps Wild Skills Adventure: Crystal Mountain
Aug 9 @ 9:30 am – 4:00 pm

Join us for a Wild Skills Adventure at Crystal Mountain Resort on Friday, August 9th! SheJumps’ Wild Skills Adventures are open community events where parents/chaperones participate with the girls. Throughout the adventure, girls are introduced to a range of outdoor skills which include first aid, navigation, leave no trace, 10 essentials, shelter building and more.

We strive to engage all generations in the sharing of knowledge and understanding. Connecting experience, energy and love for our natural places with the technical and survival skills girls need to get out and adventure.

Schedule for the Day:

The event start is a rolling one – where groups can show up as they want between 9:30 am – 11:30 am and move through the stations until they close at 3 pm.

On the day of the event, you’ll register and get your specialized Wild Skills Adventure map which will guide you throughout the event. You start the day at the Crystal Mountain base area with a lesson in Leave No Trace principles and a ‘gear check’ to make sure you brought your 10 Essentials.

From there you’ll board the Crystal Mountain scenic gondola which takes you over wildflower meadows and climbs up 2,000 feet to the summit where you can enjoy views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Range.

From the summit, you’ll wind down the Crystal Mountain trail to different Adventure Stations set up throughout your journey. At each station, you’ll learn something new, have a challenge to figure out or get a treat. The Adventure Stations will allow girls to put to practice areas of our Wild Skills curriculum including shelter building, navigation, first aid, sound mapping and more.

Once you’ve completed the task at the station you’ll get a stamp and move along to the next. At the end of the hike, you’ll turn in your Adventure Map for a chance to win prizes.

At the end of the hike, we’ll have a Wrap Party with games, music, face painting, food for purchase and a chance drawing.

Timeline:

  • 9:30 am Registration Opens
  • 10 am Gondola rides start & Adventure Stations open
  • 1 pm Wrap Party at Base Area opens

Ragnar Rainier August 23rd – 24th, 2019 @ Crystal Mountain Resort
Aug 23 @ 12:00 pm – Aug 24 @ 6:30 pm

Ragnar Trail Rainier

Hit the trails in the Evergreen State on August 23-24 at Ragnar Trail Rainier-WA, presented by Salomon! You and your team of 8 runners (or ultra-team of 4) will conquer some seriously gorgeous terrain at Crystal Mountain, just two hours outside of Seattle.

Teams will tackle a series of three trail loops (red, yellow, and green) that start and end at Ragnar Village—as one runner heads out to conquer the course at a time, relay-style. When you’re not running, you’ll be cheering runners as they come into Ragnar Village, partying around the big communal campfire (roasting s’mores and sharing stories), and enjoying the fun-filled atmosphere set up at camp. The race doesn’t stop when the sun goes down so be prepared to run through the night (yes, on the trail!) where your headlamp and a canopy of billions of stars will illuminate your path.

This race is challenging, but the views are worth every step you take. Once everyone on your team has completed all the loops, you can run into the finisher’s area together where you’ll receive what is quite possibly the coolest, most functional, finisher’s medal you will find in the woods. Mark your running calendar for Aug. 23-24. Or get the party started early and enjoy an extra evening of camping on Thurs. Aug. 22.
