Crystal Mountain Snow Safety Night @ Main Lodge
Dec 14 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Welcome to our first community snow safety night!

Each month we will host a community snow safety night to highlight specific topics related to snow safety out on the slopes of Crystal Mountain including deep snow safety, avalanche awareness, tree wells, helmet safety and much much more! Each month we will have a member of the Crystal Mountain Pro Patrol to answer questions and/present on certain topics.

This month, we welcome SheJumps as they present the High Fives Foundation’s 8th documentary, Helmets Are Cool, featuring top athletes Jeremy Jones, Julia Mancuso, Elyse Saugstad, Cody Townsend, and more to speak to helmet usage in a ski & snowboard style movie. Be inspired as we learn the importance of helmet innovation and the difference it can make for those who wear them. A member from Crystal Mountain Pro Patrol will join us to give us a quick update on conditions and early season snow safety. Film will be followed by a prize winning Q & A along with raffle prizes!

We will also have Elizabeth Rusch from Sasquatch Books in attendance with her new book featuring Piper from the Avalanche Dog Program. She’ll have books available for purchase with partial proceeds benefitting the Crystal Mountain Avalanche Dog Program.

Avalanche Dog Heroes: Piper and Friends Learn to Search the Snow

Follow Piper the border collie and her canine classmates through a season of avalanche rescue training. As they learn the skills they need to become snow rescue dogs, you’ll learn about the work these amazing canines do and about avalanche safety.

This SheJumps’ Wild Skills event is structured as full day camp experience, parents/legal guardians drop girls off, they are split into teams based on their skier ability and then rotate through different stations. Throughout the day, girls are taught a range of outdoor skills that are utilized by ski patrollers to keep the mountain safe. Girls will work alongside female patrollers and volunteers to learn more about the many facets of mountain safety and first aid.

We will provide 1 to 2 female mentorship engaging all generations in the sharing of knowledge and understanding. Connecting experience, energy and love for our natural places with the technical and survival skills girls need to get out and adventure.
