High Altitude restaurant with Amazing views
Getting here is half the fun! Perched at 6,872 feet, the Summit House offers breathtaking views of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding Cascades! We’re located just steps from the top of the scenic Mt. Rainier Gondola. Skiers can also access the restaurant using the Rainier Express lift.
A dining experience
Enjoy a savory meal in a beautiful alpine setting with views that are both unique and breathtaking. Sip on a glass of wine, specialty hot drink or a cold beer as you dine and take in the views. On a clear day, you can see the Northwest’s most famous volcanic peaks such at Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Baker, and Glacier Peak. The lower level houses ski patrol and public restrooms. The upper-level restaurant seats approximately 100 people.
We do not take reservations. Walk-ins are welcome, subject to availability, and are first-come-first-served. Tickets are required to ride the gondola and can be purchased from the kiosk at the base of the resort. If you are skiing or snowboarding the gondola is included in your lift ticket or season pass. The Summit House can also be reached by the Rainier Express Chair lift.

We are happy to accommodate large groups midweek with advance reservations. Groups of 15+ must call Group Sales at (360) 663-3011 to make ticket and lunch arrangements. A credit card is required at the time of booking, and one check will be presented to the group with a single form of payment required. There is a 48-hour cancellations policy for groups and no-shows and last-minute cancellations will be charged $30 per person.
Dress warm and wear comfortable footwear with good traction.
We recommend that you use the restroom at the bottom of the gondola before you head up.
Wear sunscreen. Remember, you’re at a much higher elevation and the reflection of the snow can intensify the effects.
Bring your camera!
Do not feed wildlife.
The gondola may close without notice due to severe weather, such as strong winds, and thus access to the Summit House would not be available. Please check the mountain report page or call us at (360) 663-3050 before heading up.
