It’s that time of year again; the temps are dropping; the anticipation is building, and the feeling of winter is in the air. The 23/24 season is upon us, and we have some exciting updates to share. From the installation of RFID gates and the introduction of new night skiing lights to the addition of a NASTAR course, we are confident that these improvements will help make your Crystal experience smoother and will help get you to the slopes faster.

We know you are all curious about the opening of the new base area lodge, the Mountain Commons. We are working with our crews and Mother Nature to open as soon as we can. Stay tuned for updates throughout the beginning of the season.

      RFID GATES
Our RFID (radio-frequency technology) gates have arrived and will be ready for Opening Day! RFID will help make day-to-day operations smoother and will allow guests to load the lifts without having their ticket or pass scanned manually.

      What to know:

      • All season passes, frequency passes, and daily lift tickets will be RFID-compatible this year so you can head directly to the lift.
      • Daily lift tickets will be reloadable and reusable.
      • RFID gates will scan your passes automatically through the left side of your jacket and pants (keep phones, credit cards, and other objects out away from your ticket or pass).
      • We will have 2 gates at the Mt. Rainier Gondola, 6 gates at Chinook, and 3 gates at Discovery.

RFID scanning is beneficial for several reasons, and we’re excited to be offering it to all of you this upcoming season.

      CASHLESS RESORT
Starting this winter, Crystal Mountain will no longer accept cash as a form of payment. For guests who are unable to pay with a cashless form of payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Credit card, Debit card), we will have a cash-to-card ATM located in Cascade Lodge outside of Brand X Equipment.

      PARKING & RESERVATIONS
To kick off the season, general parking will be first come, first serve. Reservations will go into effect around the holiday season and will be required for ALL guests (except A Lot pass holders) on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. More information to come.
      What to Know:

      • $20 paid parking will be required for non-pass holders (including handicap parking, EV drivers, and Wild Card holders) on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
      • Free parking for carpools of 4+ people with priority parking in upper C Lot.
      • EV Chargers will be first-come, first-serve.
      • Reservations will be released on Tuesdays at 12pm and 6pm prior to the upcoming weekend.
      • This year, we have 5 full size parking lot shuttles with increased capacity and comfort. All parking lots will have regular shuttle service for decreased wait times, and faster access to the base area.

      MORE TICKET PICKUP KIOSKS
Last year, we introduced 8 new ticket pickup kiosks located around the base area where guests could easily print out their tickets purchased online. This season will have 12 total. We are adding 2 more that will be located next to Brand X Equipment and the Ski School Desk while the rest of them will be at the base of the gondola. The ticket pickup kiosks will also have the ability to print our new RFID tickets.
      How to Use:

      • After buying a ticket online, guests will receive a confirmation barcode via email.
      • Pro tip! Take a screenshot at home or have your email confirmation pre-loaded on your phone.
      • Scan the barcode at the kiosk and tickets will be printed immediately.
      • Head directly to the lift and enjoy the slopes! No need to wait in line at Guest Services.

      NEW RV SITES: G LOT

    • TERRAIN UPDATES
Our trail crew worked hard this year to improve some of our most traveled runs! Here’s what’s new:

      • Queens Run is widened just below the bottom of Chair 6. The snowbank on skier's right is now removed.
      • Lower Magoo is now regraded to provide a smoother and more consistent slope.
      • Jeremy’s Road/Cat Track will provide easier access to Northway and will allow the Cat Crew to have better grooming access.

      SNOW BRIGHT LEDs
Our night lighting improvement project started 5 years ago when we installed 60 new lights on Quicksilver. This summer we upgraded 32 lights on Discovery and plan on installing 27 new lights on Gold Hills by next summer! We decided to use the Snow-Bright technology from Ultra-Tech Lighting, specifically designed to reflect off snow and provide the best quality lighting for night skiing. This has quickly become the light fixture of choice industry-wide and is being installed at some of the most prestigious resorts in the industry. This technology is also much more efficient, with about a 60% reduction in energy use. Check out our night skiing schedule and experience the all-new Snow-Bright lights!

      NASTAR COURSE
NASTAR (National Standard Race) is the largest public ski racing program in the world. NASTAR provides recreational racers an opportunity to compete and compare their scores to friends and family despite when and where they race. We are excited to install our first-ever NASTAR-approved racecourse on Quicksilver this season. Here’s what to know:

      • Open starting December 29th, 2023
      • Regular operating schedule will be Fridays & Saturdays from 2:30pm-close
      • Free for public use!
      • Must sign a waiver prior to racing (available at the start line)

We will also host a NASTAR Race Series in the spring; stay tuned for more information!

    • MIDWAY YURT
New this season, we are excited to introduce the Midway Yurt located at the top of Chinook Express and the base of Rainier Express. Like Tower 16, Midway Yurt will offer grab-and-go snacks and beverages as well as essential items such as hats, gloves, handwarmers, and more. It’s the perfect stop for a mid-shred break or après hang out. Stop by and say hi on opening day!

      FIRESIDE CANTINA DAILY BREAKFAST
Conveniently located next to Chinook Express, Fireside offers easy access to the lifts and a great stop for your morning coffee and breakfast burritos. This season, Fireside will be open daily for breakfast, offering breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and quick bites.

      NO MOBILE ORDERING

We will not be offering mobile ordering this season. All food venues will be in-person ordering only.
